Well, they finally decided to pull MacWorld out of Boston. I suppose it makes sense, considering the show couldn’t even get Apple to come. I’ve been to two shows in Boston (one at the South Boston Cenvention Center, and the other most recently at the Hynes Convention Center), and also one here in San Francisco. It’s easy to say that the SF show blew the Boston ones out of the water. While I never had the chance to go to one of the MacWorlds when they were in New York, from what I’ve heard it was much more exciting (to nerds like me) than the later shows.
While this makes me a little sad (now I don’t have an excuse for anymore improptu visits to Boston) I can see where they’re coming from. The Boston shows, especially at South Boston, was pathetic at best. The area that MacWorld took up was a paltry 1/4th of the room they were in. It looked… sad. Hynes was laid out a little better, but the gap left by vendors such as Apple, Macromedia, Adobe, etc was very noticable. I couldn’t tell from the article whether or not they’re planning on moving the show back to NYC, or if they’re just going to have the one show in SF. Maybe… two shows in SF? That’d be super.
