Whitening.

10

crestSo I was out to lunch with Lara the other day (Lara, Queen of the Peripherals) and I noticed that her teeth were a shocking shade of white. Now I am a full supporter of dental hygiene, and I think I take pretty good care of my teeth. Well, except for the copious amounts of coffee that I drink on a given day. She said she was using those whitening strips, so I decided to pick up a pack on the way home. Last night I tried them.

The entire experience was very upsetting.

For starters, the instructions are not very good. I can install additional RAM on my G5 myself, set up a home network and dress myself in the morning, but apparently these strips are beyond my realm of comprehension. I got the whitening goo all over my hands. It’s not like you have to apply the goo to the strips, it’s already there. I just couldn’t manage getting them on my teeth.

According to the pamphlet, the strips can cause “sensitivity.” No, really? About 5 minutes in, I began experiencing the worst feeling EVER in my mouth, which was that of biting into an ice cream cone with your front teeth. Know what I’m talking about? Not the mention the fact that my mouth could not stop salivating when the strips were in. I was drooling and groaning in agony like some kind of Crest zombie.
Basically, after a week of this, I had better see some freaking results.

So true.

East Meets West

2

Tonight I joined Tom Merritt and Roger Chang on East Meets West, their hilarious (and random) podcast. Basically, it was us making fun of people on the Oscars (Crash?? Dude, Ang Lee is totally pissed right now).

You can check out Tom’s SubBrilliant Blog for updates on the show, or you can listen to it here. Hopefully they’ll let me come back and make more snarky comments to Roger.

Speaking of podcasting news, Molly was featured on the TWiT podcast on Friday night over at the Apple Store in San Francisco! Ryan and Eric were there too, and complained about not being included in the conversation. That’s what you get for not being related to TechTV in any way, I guess. None of my pictures came out very well, but I found a set on flickr that were basically what I was trying to get at. She did awesome, and we also got to meet some Buzz Out Loud fans there. Good times.

Bit the bullet!

I finally got the one thing I’ve been wanting FOREVER…a TiVo. Do you know what this means?

1. No more missed Project Runway (shut up), Dirty Jobs or Best Week Ever (although.. it is now on podcast form).

2. A “real” excuse to stay in on a Friday/Saturday night, because WoW doesn’t cut it with my friends anymore (“Sorry, gotta stay in, I’ve saved up a a season of “So You Think You Can Dance?”)

3. I can record sporting events and fast-forward through said “event” to the good commercials.

4. I can finally watch the CNET VOD content that we work on.

So this is the special that I got: 40 Hour TiVo Series 2 for free, with 12-month pre-pay subscription. Not bad! Naturally, the second I announced on the podcast that I bought a TiVo, here is the response:

“Now that Veronica bought a TiVo, the Apple DVR will be out tomorrow!”

Of course. Luckily for me, there was an article posted on TUAW today that said I don’t have anything to worry about. *phew* It would be just my luck, wouldn’t it?
