fortunately for me, i didn't have any noticable troubles with itunes 7. except last.fm scrobbler wasn't working with it... i had to remove 7, reinstall 6 and then install last.fm. after that i installed 7 overtop of it...and it worked.

not sure why.

iTunes 7 on my PC sucks the juice right out of my system, even after the requisite artwork and gapless playback processes (although perhaps it's just my computer showing its age).

Oh and I'm still disappointed that there's still no 'true' video iPod. While they're at it, maybe they could add DAB Digital Radio features to it and wifi? If only.

Not happy with iTunes 7 at all... Sure, the gooey looks great and the cover flow deeli - very snazzy. But whats the point of it all if i cant play any songs or listen to my podcasts without it crashing my MBP and forcing a hard reset, EVERY TIME?!

Come on Steve you old dog you, dont let this be a sign of things to come!

I really thought the 8 gig nano was available in the colors that the 4 gig was PLUS the black... nope! The black is nice but you would think you'd actually get more options for spending more money instead of less.

I've had no problems with iTunes 7 on my PC. In fact I think it even fix iTunes for me. I'm sure it was my system, but lately iTunes 6 had been starting to crash more and more frequently. I love all the eye candy too.

As far as the iPods, I was hoping for a new iPod. I don't know if I like the idea of a touch screen "video" iPod, but I keep thinking I'll kick myself if I buy a new iPod before they properly update them. I will be getting one of the colored nanos though. I've been purposely putting off buying on of them for the gym/running. I don't understand why not at least two choices of color in the high and lower capacity models, but I'm happy Mad Dog has saved me some money. 4Gs is fine for me, but if they had the 8G in blue I'm not sure I could have resisted even though I wouldn't need 8Gs.

Movies on iTunes I couldn't care less about personally. Netflix and my Tivo more than cover my video intertainment needs. I do hope though that now that Apple has a fighter in the ring this will just be the beginning of how studios now start to think seriously about how to deliever movies digitally in ways, and at the quality, that people will actually want to purchase.

iTV. Not sure what to think since I don't own a Mac. It's seems to be a nice stepping stone into the living room, but unless it can stream your HD content from your Mac to your HD box in your living room I don't see what all the hoopla is. I just get the feeling the target for this product will demand that capability. I just don't see the average person happy with their Comcast, no matter how big a couch potato, particularly caring to stream content from their computer to their 25in box. At least not yet and especially not if it only works with a Mac. But at $299 it appears to be a very smart first step toward getting the computer and tv to paly together seamlessly.

ok, i can't hold this in:
1. why oh why am i looking at the same ipod video? isn't it supposed to be that heavily-rumored widescreen device with the virtual touch-wheelie and the 3d graphics that has haunted us in the blog-o-sphere for so long? i'll give them credit that they extended the battery life, provided gapless playback, and made 80gigs feasible for the blue-collered audiophile...kudos to the dev's @ cupertino...but as for the other features? just "meh" features is all...so i guess my faithful 30gig video is still somewhat new and not a relic like the 1st gen Nano...but i'll get to that in a sec
2. you're right veronica...why the snigglet did the only gave colors to the mid-size nanos? i really don't understand why they limit the lowest and highest sized nanos to the most popular colors...i'm befuddled, i'm teh confused.
3. but all was not lost...i love the design of the shuffle, it reminds me of the radio remote...only cooler and style-ish. i have a video, but i will buy a new shuffle too. now if they integrated fm reception with the shuffle, we may see MORE people buying the shuffle rather than the nano/video...you feeling me on this so far?
4. games...i love it, good concept, but i wont pay for it...sorry
5. movies...i like it...though i'm not a fan of disney, lets see what other studios follow through shall we? lets give the folks at amazon a good scare.
6. iTV...i love it...seriously, i fscking love it...this has a lot of potential to be a very hot item...and if it weren't for a 3-hour time zone differential, i wouldve been the first to post it up on cnet...you've won this round Belmont...but i'll get you next time ;-)
7. itunes 7 crashed my crappy windows box...this royally dissapointed me to the point where i just wanted to chuck my ipod over a fence...but as usual, itms 7 works on my brother's macbook.
.
so all in all, mad dog came through...not with what we were all anticipating, but enough to keep us salivating at least till the iTV, iPhone, or the iFlea comes out...if it ever does

Switch to a Mac. ;)
Yeah, I'm hearing this as well. Not good. My feeling is Apple might have rushed this out the door a bit...

The iTV is not designed to replace a cable co. box. It's a compliment to it, and a pretty good one. Like Media Center simplified, done right. Apple's good at that game. They are gonna kill with the itv, whatever they wind up calling it... Place your bets now.

Yeah, that's wack about the nano colors only in 4GB-- wth? My wife loved her pink mini... but you only need 4GB for all those pics, feeds, and podcasts, RIGHT?

shuffle:pretty cool. almost everyone can buy one just for the.
nano: smart to go with aluminum, but I don't care..I am fine with my 4 GB mini.
ipod:holding out for the larger screen, but $$ for 80GB is a good deal.

iTunes: I love the on screen controls for video podcasts. 1 touch full screen = awesome.

iTV: I will buy it. makes perfect sense to get my music and video into my room, and although it doesn't include a DVR, let's face it, DVR's are BIG and HOT. it would never fit into the size of the iTV. The competition in this market between cable providers and Tivo is already killing tivo, why make it worse? iTV will finally be an apple product you don't have to upgrade EVERY YEAR!

Interesting. I download iTunes 7 on a PC last night, updated my whole library with CD art, synced two iPods, and had no problems whatsoever. Hopefully all will work out for you in the end.

I'm playing with it now (didn't get to download until right before I went to work last night). Tho I'm hoping I don't have the crashing issues ::crosses fingers::

On a side note, I looooove the mental image you gave with the hamster and the ferris wheel.

I was psyched, like super psyched about this event. And what happened? A big fat meeeeeh. Colors are back, yey. But not all colors are available for all sizes? WTF indeed. It's the same damn casing, isn't it? Just slap a different drive in there and be done with it. That was such a lame thing to do.

Jobs sounded off the whole time he was on stage, like he was expecting something more too, but there just wasn't anything. And iTV? Really? Sure you'll be able to connect it to your TV but that's not iTV. I was expecting something that had a tuner in it. Like, you know, lemme watch the damn TV from an apple PVR media center doohikey, right? Guess not.

And I live in Finland where we're still waiting for the TV content to be available on iTunes, dammit.

I hate regional releases when what we're supposed to do in this time of the internets and the tubes is to release this stuff the same time everywhere. I think that would help a lot with the whole pirating TV programs and movies if we could get them the same time as the folks in the US and not like years later.

Cause, let's face it, we talk about it on the internets and we see the trailers and such but then we have to wait for A LONG FRIGGIN' TIME before they're here. So what's a girl to do, wait? Sure, if I had Jedi strength but I don't.

Also, iTunes 7. One of the most interesting features I got psyched up about was when Jobs announced that I'd be able to have my library in multiple machines, Mac or PC. But I have a Mac AND PC. And if I try importing my library from my iPod, it won't allow me to do that. WTF? Did I misunderstand? I still can't mix and match PC and Mac? I mean, my iPod is Mac formatted so how am I supposed to get my library to my PC then? It's like... super hard figuring this stuff out, my brain hurts ;) Draw me a damn diagram, Steve!

Anyway, Apple gets a big fat meeh for this here Apple Event. Just friggin' bring us the iPod video and iPhone already! Stop stalling!

Cause, let’s face it, we talk about it on the internets and we see the trailers and such but then we have to wait for A LONG FRIGGIN’ TIME before they’re here. So what’s a girl to do, wait? Sure, if I had Jedi strength but I don’t.

Also, iTunes 7. One of the most interesting features I got psyched up about was when Jobs announced that I’d be able to have my library in multiple machines, Mac or PC. But I have a Mac AND PC. And if I try importing my library from my iPod, it won’t allow me to do that. WTF? Did I misunderstand? I still can’t mix and match PC and Mac? I mean, my iPod is Mac formatted so how am I supposed to get my library to my PC then? It’s like… super hard figuring this stuff out, my brain hurts Draw me a damn diagram, Steve!

Anyway, Apple gets a big fat meeh for this here Apple Event. Just friggin’ bring us the iPod video and iPhone already! Stop stalling!

I was a bit dissapointed by the lack of:

1. CableCard support in iTV (and an associated DVR - although I guess this breaks the business model of pay per episode download)
2. Non DVD+ quality video. It's not going to add a lot to the download. Hollywood seems bent on sticking to the "you can watch crappy (relatively) versions of content elsewhere, but if you want quality here's the theatre/HD-DVD/VOD asset). They could disable analog outputs on iTV (and enforce DHCP) if they were really scared of copies being made and distributed.
3. A meagre catalog of video and tv-shows.
4. No color depth increases to the "video" iPod (does the Zen Vision-M have the best screen thus far?)

I think Windows Vista MCE's the product to look forward to despite it being from *bleh* M$.
