Dear Veronica, I saw your website after seeing you on the CNET website. Your advice is fun and free in spirit. Its quite literally funny and with such openess of heart, many inniocent people find learning from you easy. I have reason to believe that one site reports that Kim is dead, if this is true, then I can imagine the grief you have had to face. I only can say mate that if you are hopelessness at any time, put your attention inside and take a deep breath and be the best strength you can be. You are a very string and lively person. Keep the spirited work going and I will be simply amused by your antics over there. I too had to face such trauma in the past, so do not dismay be strong as you usually are. God Bless. from Peter

[...] This is anything but a tech blog, but as a regular reader/listener of CNET.com, I felt compelled to at least make mention of this. James Kim, a senior editor at CNET, and his family (wife and two young daughters) have gone missing in the Portland, Oregon area. From fellow CNET editor Veronica Belmont’s blog: They were last seen Saturday morning in Portland, Oregon, and they were supposed to be driving back to San Francisco that day. He was scheduled to be at work on Tuesday morning. [...]

I wonder if any of James friends or coworkers know what brand/model of GPS used in their car (or if portable), then possibly focus on using the paths of that specific GPS's mapping sw route would have selected, since different mapping programs and GPS's preferences may have selected different routes to the coast??

I spent a good hour and a half submitting the story to every Portland and Gold Beach media outlet I could find. I also tried CNN's iReport. If i was in the area I'd be starting down every road I could.

To those who don't think you can do something -- you can! This man is one of us. A techie. A webhead. A friend. It's times like this that the citizen media/blogosphere/community roles that we all fight for and believe in step up and GET CREATIVE. Mainstream only publishes what it thinks matters. We need to tell them that this matters to a LOT of us. Step up, let your voice be heard.

I'm just a single guy in Canada, but I sent over 60 emails last night to media outlets in Oregon. Sixty. A friend echoed my emails to media outlets all along the coast.

This community NEEDS to stand up right now. We NEED to work together and attack the mainstream media in the area with all we've got. One of our own needs us.

So step up! Join in. Help us FIND JAMES AND HIS FAMILY.

Thank you.
