Lame question
OK, so I have this thing called my “default song.” It’s the song that automatically gets stuck in my head when there’s nothing else going on. Which, frankly… happens on occasion. That song is “Be My Lover” by La Bouche (please, refrain from any jokes on that title). I’m not sure why this hit from the mid 90′s is often in my head, but for some reason it has remained.
There are two other songs that are often in my head for no apparent reason: “The Funky Chicken,” and “Copacabana.” I am your worst nightmare if I ever start singing one of these in your presence. So the question is, naturally, what songs are often stuck in your brain? Am I really this crazy?

V,
I can definitely say that you aren’t crazy. In fact, I’ll say that I caught myself singing Copacabana on more than one occasion. Usually though, there are some weird song selections that pop into my head that have nothing to do with what i’m doing. And then someone will be talking to me and say something that starts me up… see just like that. The best thing to do is try to plant it in someone else head subliminally. It’s fun!

My default song varies month to month… this month: “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley. Here’s a cool YouTube music video of the song played against footage of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv6OS-oJwpc

I’m too young to know ‘Copacabana’ and until now have not been under its evil influence. Things have now changed. Generally though I am a big musical fan and whatever musical is on and I’m raving about is stuck in my head. I sing a lot though and I have found the best method is having a karaoke session which lets you get them out of your head and have a laugh (or just remind you of that lyric that slipped your mind).

My “default song” is Istanbul (Not Constantinople), the version by They Might Be Giants. People get so mad at me when I start humming it, or singing it.
Thank goodness I cannot remember how that La Bouche song goes, because I remember it when it was around and it would get stuck in my head then. Hah! My brain has defeated La Bouche!

Speaking of songs that get stuck in your head, who here has the song in that Geico caveman commercial rattling in your brain? You know, the one where he sees a poster of another caveman while walking on a people mover. Well, the name of the song is “Remind Me” by Royksopp. The one on the commercial is the Radio Edit, but if you’re curious, here is the video on YT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBvaHZIrt0o

“La daa da dee da daa da daa….” haha awesome song! I think my friend danced to it during the 5th grade talent show.
I can’t believe how awesome that song was:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCjq4tlC_TI
I can’t think of any long-term default song, but lately i’ve had the Ghostbuster’s theme song pop into my head.

Well I’m such a sucker for advertising! I tend to sing or quote tag lines to everyone I meet after I have seen a new catchy ad.
Honda Ad – Hate Something, Change Something:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNXQVVGVK1E – Unfortunately, the song was produced by the creative agency and while they own the rights to it, they can not use it for anything other that selling Honda cars
Coke – Give a Little Love (And it All Comes Back to You)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mbpi5YeBkCk – This GTA styled ad is amazing. I’m yet to see in on the TV but its very cool! I also have the song somewhere! So I have confessed and I feel so much better!

It depends for me really! This time it’s this song that’s from a movie I saw with my girlfriend.

No V, you are not crazy, or even alone, sometimes we have a song in our heads and sometimes that song is from a genre that we usually hate like in M?xico, we have something called ‘cumbias’ which is a genre very weird that you can ear on a bus but guess what we usually spend several hours a day on a bus so we have no other thing to listen than ‘cumbias’ no for not having an mp3 player but for the noisy volume that bus drivers have so an ugly song got stuck on your brain a whole day or even a weekend…
