Wow, a lot of you come here through Netvibes. I had no idea it was so popular! I’m getting burnt out on trying new things lately, but is it worth a look? Seems a little busy for my tastes.
UPDATE: You guys seem to want to duke it out, so here’s a poll!

I love Netvibes! Way better than the Google personalized homepage IMO. I like the clean look, and the mouse-over pop-ups you get on the rss feed headlines.
I have used Netvibes for while. It is the best way to categorize and quickly view all the rss feeds I have. I wonder how your system counts the pings from Netvibes when it is just checking if there is a new post? Or does it only count if someone actually clicks through to the site? You can view most of the post in Netvibes without coming.
I dig it, and Rich is right, it’s definitely better than Google IG.
Eh, I’m old-skool. Yes, that’s old-skool with a ‘k’. I just use the URL link from my own Firefox start page *sigh*.
Everybody knows Google Reader is where it’s at!
tried it, works well, even ditched google ig
Count me in, V. Been using NetVibes for about 8 months now, and dig it! It’s been an awesome tool for my gaming journalism and military history writing, by helping me keep track of the 112 websites I look through every morning. And that’s NOT counting the tech news and webfriends’ sites like yours!
yes. netvibes’ where its at. love the podcast playback features.
I never even heard of Netvibes. Looks like I’m behind the times these days too.
Seriously…do people really think netvibes is that much better than google ig? It has a couple extra features but it wouldn’t make me switch my home page to it.
I prefer Yahoo7 which is Australian version of Yahoo mainly because of aussie-centric stuff on it.
Where’s the option for none/about:blank in the poll? Minimalism FTW!
Protopage used to be a big thing… Do people still use that?
I use myway.com for my homepage, no ads at all. Mostly use Mail w/ a gmail account, and Dashboard for quick data updates. Safari and Bookmark Bar folders filled w/ RSS feeds works nicely, a # shows up to show how many have been recently fed.
I’m not sure what question you are asking here…..veronicabelmont.com *is* my homepage….
@Victor - Best answer ever!
prefer google. hey V show Tom this youtube vid. -> Ubuntu 6.10 with XGL & Kiba-Dock, its not mine but he covered ubuntu a while ago so maybe he’ll like it
I use nada for a homepage. I prefer blank windows, because I don’t have a set routine of which site I visit first. I have five or six sites I definitely check out (not including RSS feeds), but not in any order.
People still use home pages? I make Firefox to restore my last browsing session. This way every time I open my browser I’m right back where I left of last time when I closed it.
This means that I will usually be greeted by Bloglines, Twitter my blogs dashboard and whatever else I was using at the time.
Home pages… Pshh… Who needs them.
I still use http://www.apple.com/startpage/ .
I would like to explore other options, but I need something that loads fast. for a while I used http://live.xbox.com/en-US/default.aspx but it loads slow.
I would like something customized. maybe tom should make a real deal on it?
“Seems a little busy” is exactly how I felt about netvibes, although it is pretty nifty.
Wow! The world just changed a bit, gotta check that Netvibes sites….
I like using the main Google page, although I’ve used the /ig page in the past. I like a plain home page. I have never heard of Netvibes before, it looks pretty busy for my tastes.
Netvibes is great. I’ve been using it for over a year now. Google’s place was nice, but the podcast features already mentioned seal the deal for me (and I didn’t even know about them for a while!), and the Netvibes Customize module gives you cool tweaking options like using your own backgrounds, etc.

With all the modules available, it makes a for a great jump-off point whenever I start my interneting, although I think my screenshot will further the “too busy” comment. I like being busy, though…
V- I love Netvibes, but check out this nifty article that appeared on Digg this morning:

Google Reader FTW!
I’m a fan of popurls myself. But before that it was google ig
I also thought it was too buisy, but I found an interesting solution. Fin out what your ‘minimum’ is, and then take the number of stuff you have and divide it by that number. The result you have, is the number of tabs you have to put, with the most important on the first tab, and the least important on the last tab.
