Sounds like what happened to me with the first generation iPod. I was buying software for my daughter for Christmas when I went to pay at the counter and they had the $600, 5 GB iPod under glass. I didn’t have anything nice for my wife, so that was her big Christmas gift.

I seldom regret impulse purchases, probably because, subconsciously, I knew I was going to buy it anyway.

re: CONGRATULATIONS! I just bought a condo. People won’t stop with the CONGRATULATIONS. Maybe instead of telling them I bought a condo I should just tell them I bought a mortgage and see how they react. BTW - the term Mortgage comes from French Law and means ‘dead pledge’. Fun.

Why do people say “Congratulations!” when you purchase something??
I never get that.

It’s not like its hard work to walk into a store and slap down some cash or worse the old plastic.

It’s does look cool,when Apple releases it in the rest of the world we may find out

hi Veronica, massive buzz out loud fan, just listened to the new TWIT… I *think* I heard you talking about not having google maps on your t mobile dash because there was no java VM?

There is a version of google maps that installs on a windows mobile device, that I didnt think needed java. There is a link to it on the google mobile search page. I have been using it with a tytn for a while.

So you bought two, I am guessing one is for you and the other one is going on ebay, right???
I am a big fan of the iPhone, and I am so happy that Apple had a successful launch, I am not planning to get a iPhone just yet, I like you Veronica do not want to pay the T-mobile cancellation fee.
Tom was right, you would get a iPhone, but I am surprised at Brian’s fairly subdued response to the iPhone launch, all things considered.
A co-worker of mine bit the bullet and bought a shiny new iPhone regardless of the consequences, He went around the office showing everyone his shiny new iPhone.

I would definitely consider buying one without the phone contract, just for the convergence of my iPod and Palm, with a wi-fi internet tablet thrown in. But it sounds like you can’t buy it at all without the phone service.

Also, someone was saying that you can’t drag and drop music into the iPod, you have to sync with a specific playlist. This is not a good thing.

I am definitely looking forward to the non-phone version, and hope it keeps the wi-fi, browser, and all the “palm-like” features.

You’ll be so glad when you get to activate it and use it. I would like a iphone like you said in the show, without the phone part but still have the wifi because I’m happy with my krzr with verizon. I have a feeling that in a few months you’ll be like “I should have waited for the second generation with the flash support and 3g. Well congratulations of you iphone and great podcast.

Don’t feel bad about Edge. If you’re on T-Mobile now, your performance can only improve. No offense to T-Mobile, but here in Boston at least, their data services are MUCH slower that ATTingular. Enjoy your iPhone & good luck holding back til 7/10 to activate
