Nasty problem: after using headphones to listen to music, my iPhone won't work as a phone except on speaker or through the headset. It's as if it hasn't realised that the headset has been disconnected.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I've been using the dock included with the iPhone in order to play the iPhone in my car, which has a minijack cord that doesn't fit the iPhone directly. Works great!

Well nix the Shure adapter above-it puts the mic way too low and makes your cables too long to be useful.

Apple online store (not sure about local stores) is now selling the Shure iPhone headphone adapter with mic and button. Cost is $40. and it will allow you to use any headphones/earbuds with the iPhone and get call/answer button and mic functionality too.

Word is that V-Moda will be updating their headset to include the call/answer button (as well as the mic) in a few months.

PLEASE NOTE!
The V-Moda Headset that is made for the IPhone, does not have an answer feature like the Apple headset that is included. I purchased the headset and had to return it. It does have a mic, but no switch to answer the phone.

I've been testing the Shure iPhone adapter (prototype). It will be relatively pricey at $40, but it has a great in-line mic and the control button. It will work with your UE's, but the combined cord will end up too long. However, if you've got any of the recent Shure models with modular cords, this is not a good solution, it's *perfect*.

Those Ultimate Ears look sweet, they remind me a lot of the ear audio clarifiers I used when I worked in local news... (see here for what I mean: http://www.audioimplements.com/custom%20earpieces.htm )The price tag seems really high for the high end (800 clams?) Which model do you own? Just wondering...

Charlie in RI...

No I don't own a Bobopedic bed or the Bobinizer from Bobs Discount Furniture...

Good call on the adaptor. Everyone should grab one before the ebay vultures really get going.

iPhone haters are silly. It's a product. You either buy it or don't. You either like it or don't.

Me? I'm extremely happy with mine. It's the only phone I've ever owned that makes me happy. Can't say that about my Treo 700, which I frequently wanted to throw in a lake.

The V-MODA iPhone headphones have a mic, but no call answering button...
same goes for the $100 Shures that are currently selling in AT&T stores (but not online or at apple stores anywhere)
