Big (early) announcement day!
So, this announcement is coming sooner than I expected, but a little birdie was set loose into the blogosphere today, so here we are! It’s true, I’m leaving CNET to work full-time for Mahalo, producing a daily video show. My plan was to let everyone know on Monday on BOL, but I guess a blog entry from E3 works too
Leaving CNET is going to be bittersweet; it’s been a fantastic three years, and I’ve worked with some amazing people. When I first joined the company, as an audio producer (intern!), I never thought that things would progress the way they did. But then I had to go and open my big mouth on Buzz Out Loud, and they never got me to shut it again. Tom Merritt and Molly Wood are two of the smartest (and most awesome) people I know, and leaving Buzz is going to be the hardest part. Maybe they’ll have me on as a guest sometime!
I also had my first experience in front of the camera at CNET (I believe it was an Insider Secret called “Mastering Google Calendar”), which was weird for me, in the sense that I was always behind the scenes. But technology videos have always come pretty easily for me: take the things I love talking about, and try to lay them out in a manner that’s entertaining and accessible. That’s what I’ll be doing at Mahalo, too, except now I’ll have the freedom to talk about anything! Tech? Sure. Pop culture? Heck yeah. How to find cult science fiction novels in your city? Yeah, I might do that.
Well, there will be more information coming in the next couple of weeks. My last day at CNET is the 20th of July. Thanks to everyone for your continued support. I’m really excited about the new changes, and I’ll hope you’ll check out the new show!

Before I get into semi-emotional no more Veronica on BOL stuff, let me just say that this seems like an amazing opportunity for you and I’m excited to watch you grow with Mahalo. However, I’m also really going to miss you on BuzzOutLoud as well as your other CNET productions. CRAVE is always entertaining and informative, and BOL has become an essential part of my day that I look forward to–more so than any other podcast I subscribe to. Your honest, in-depth product reviews and clever moments of comic internet terminology are always a wonderful addition to Buzz Out Loud.
You’ll be missed!

Sigh…. I will miss the banter of you, Tom, and Molly. It’s always fun to listen to the podcast at work. I’m just now catching up the last week due to the flooding we’ve had in Coffeyville. I’ve been very involved in the disaster and recovery effort and didn’t listen to BOL the whole week. Literally, didn’t have the time. Read this and didn’t see it coming. Does this mean you’re going to move or do you get to stay put? Well, just wanted to say that you are a beautiful and smart girl and wish there were more like you. It’s been fun listening and will catch you on whatever else you do.

Please noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I have been listening for ages and lately the show has been in pieces (molly not being on, AND NOW YOU LEAVING), I think I speak for everyone when I say “the show only works with all the pieces together, like a jigsaw puzzle”
but I guess I cant stop you, the only thing I can say is “Good luck Veronica” -
Wow!!! I am really surprised to hear this, but Congratulations to you on your new job. First Molly comes back, then you leave, it is a shame to see you leave CNET. I think that you added a lot of positive energy and good vibes to the Buzz Out Loud podcast, and the rest of CNET.
Again, Congratulations and Good Luck Veronica.

OOOOOHHHH NOOOOOOO!!!!!
That was my first thought, actually I first saw the headline for the BOL podcast and thought it was just a joke, but then realized it was actually true.
YOU are the reason I listen to BOL (and lately also MP3 insider), you are absolutely my favourite gadget girl, and it will be a great loss to miss you from the podcast.
However, every cloud has a silverlining, as they say, since I understand that I will now be able to SEE you every day on Mahalo.
Only problem is I usually listen to BOL in my car, which will be a bit harder with your video show
but I hope it will be available as a video podcast so people can subscribe to it, or at least make it downloadable so we can take you with us
I know you really like doing video, so this seems like the perfect career move for you and I completely understand your decision (even though I will miss you on BOL), I wish you all the best in your new job.

Veronica, thank you, your time as a host on BOL has been great, you’ve been one of the finest podcast hosts I’ve had the fortune to listen to. Your energy, humour and charm have brightened up many a dull weekday morning in my life.
However, I couldn’t help but utter a Dvorak-esque “oh brother” when I discovered you are moving to Mahalo. Why go and work for Jason Calacanis? Why Mahalo? It doesn’t even look like it has that much traction. I won’t hold back from saying I personally don’t like Clacanis at all. Ever since *that* TWiT episode, I’ve just shuddered every time I heard him speak. Everything he says just grates. Still I’m only 1 person. I know others don’t like him too but even they are probably not even a majority, and I’ll be fair to him he’s not got where he is by flicking dimes in an armchair. If it works out for you all power to you.
Well, it’s your call and I highly doubt you’d do anything dumb, so I’ll wish you the best of luck all the same.
Thanks again, I’ll miss hearing/seeing you!

yesterday was the worst day in my whole life! hahaha… just kidding. i’m still sad to hear this but i hope you will be appearing on your new show and not just be a producer. you belong in front of the camera and the mike… you’re a great on-air personality and it would be a shame to have you just remain behind the scenes.

all this love… you’re certainly made an impact on everyone here – and it shows! I know you are moving on to great things but CNET will just not be the same without you. I think CNET definitely went through a bit of a renaissance with their on-screen personalities; you will not easily be replaced!
Obviously they tried with some new girl… but many of us don’t care! We’re coming with you!
Best wishes and we look forward to your future!

I will miss seeing you on my TiVo every week. However, I’m excited to see that you’re heading over to Mahalo. I discovered it a few months back and it is my default search provider in IE7. Good choice. Hopefully you can get your Mahalo podcast on TiVo. Regardless, I will watch everything you feed us. Congratulaions, and best of luck.

Hey Veronica… This is Aniruddh, your Indian fan of BOL and CNET TV. I really cannot believe the fact that you are leaving CNET… I mean you were a really pleasant personality. I am shifting my loyalties from CNET to Mahalo! Anyway, I’m not all that happy. So anyway I’m unsubscribing from BOL. Its sad to see that your chirruping and fun voice. I just hope you accept my Flickr friend request so that I can write a testimonial about you! Anyway I hope you reply by email or even out here… Bye! :’( :’(

I also wanted to add, that BOL has really helped me keep in touch with the tech world, and I as a 13 year old student feels that it is really funny that companies keep sueing people for no rhyme or reason as such!! Well I hope you enjoy your new job! I bet a big percentage of CNET will move over to Mahalo… Wherever you go, your fans will follow you! (Including me!!)

hmmm…. not sure if I should reply to a post on CNET’s forums or here… so I picked here… :’(
I feel like a Cubs / Red Sox fan after they were eliminated in 2003.
So who’s going to host prizefight, or are you going to keep sending PF videos to CNET? Those have been some of my favorite CNET videos….
And, what’s the status with your appearances on Leo Laporte’s show?
:’( :’( :’( …. I’d like to say more, but I can’t think through the fog of grief that’s clouding my brain, and besides I can’t even SEE my computer through the veil of tears that’s blocking my sight! :’( :’( :’(
Oh, while I’m here… is it you, or someone else, that loves Mario games and the like? I’ve learned to play a few Mario, Zelda, Tetris tunes on the piano, but I was wondering what other games have some good music?

Hi Veronica!
It is a hard and great news at the same time. I listen BOL for about two years now and loves you there, with Molly and Tom. Good luck in your new job!
