iPhone optimized!
I installed a great WordPress plug-in today called iWPhone (I read about it on TUAW) and it works really well! It automatically senses when someone is visiting the site via iPhone, and gives them this super-clean layout.
Oh a side note, why isn’t Apple’s web apps directory iPhone optimized? Isn’t that what the whole thing is about?
UPDATE: Well, it seems like it was causing some users to see my site “iPhone optimized” when they were just looking at it in Firefox on their computers. I’m not into that, so I’ve turned it off for now.

Ok, it’s not doing it any longer… but here’s what was happening before: http://webpages.charter.net/applegatem/iphonepage.jpg

Hi Veronica – It’s the ContentRobot team – thanks for checking out our iWPhone plugin. We are sorry you experienced some problems with it. If you could shoot us a quick email, we’d like to try to help iron out the problem. We have lots of people who are happily using the plugin and we like to try to address any issues that others have. We are also working on a new version that has lots of new features and is easily customized to match the look of your site. Thanks!

Apple is in an odd place right now with the iPhone optimized web pages. One of the touted features of the iPhone is a full Safari browser.
“With its advanced Safari browser, iPhone lets you see web pages the way they were designed to be seen, then easily zoom in by simply tapping on the multi-touch display with your finger.”
Putting up optimized versions of their pages would be diminishing this selling point, sort of. But, those iPhone optimized pages are just so good looking. Yummy.
