Nice list! But you should definitely check out Lupe Fiasco's New album! I completely agree with The Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Mika, Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova, and Shout Out Louds. Nice choice of Coulton though. But come on Falling slowly is great as are The Frames!

Nice...we're you at the Bat For Lashes show at Slims in SF a few months ago? Got to love the crowd clapping participation songs. Prescilla FTW! Saw Arcade Fire on KQED HD a few months back as well...amazing. You've got good taste.

I became your fan the very day I saw you on a CNet Video licking a tech gadget and laffed myself at such a awesomely dorky girl. Goodonya V! Hope you become a massive success in your career and life...

p.s. Incidentally...I think you bear a striking resemblance to my drummer (except she's 5'11") and your man kind of looks like her man too. She's awesomely dorky as well. You must be twins.

p.p.s. Lvl70 isn't all its cut out to be IMHO...I stopped playing my 70 character after a few Kara runs. Now on the rare occasion where I have free time...I play with my 57 twink lock. And THANKS for introducing me to The Guild on Youtube. Brilliant!

Wow! I totally agree with 1,3,4,8, and 9. Kudos on Number 9. That is a great song, on a somewhat disappointing album, though. "When Your Mind’s Made Up" is a better song, and I sing along every time I hear it.

Arcade Fire are always great, but I'm disappointed that The Shins are absent from this list. They are waaaaaaaaaaay better in concert, too! I saw both within 2 weeks of each other. The Shins did a *perfect* dead-on Pink Floyd cover of Time, and they did a song from Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job (Adult Swim).

Arcade Fire concert: 9
The Shins concert: 11

I don't think it's "sampling" when you use the entire song. That's just uncreative. Love the list, sans Kanye :)

Hey V, you should create an iTunes Playlist! Also, looking at your list reminds me to thank you - your Last.FM profile has turned me on to some great music, including the Decemberists, Band of Horses and Neutral Milk Hotel. Maybe you should create another Ning community - similar to Sword and Laser - but this one focused on music? Send me an email - I would be happy to set it up for you.

I always wondered if you got the name for your blog from the song "Oh Comely". You have superb taste in music and should post more on the subject (it's not like you're busy or anything :) ).

My album pick for the year would have to be Wilco's "Sky Blue Sky". I saw them live at UVA and it was awesome. My top track is the Two Gallants "Despite What You've Been Told".

Don't forget to grab the new Magnetic Fields album on the 15th!

My favourite track of the year has to be Mar singing 'All the Way Down' which can be found at 09m26s of their NPR 'All songs considered' podcasted gig from the end of July.

I recommend the whole 1h 34min gig in fact! Almost as good as seeing them live :) Hope to in 2008.

::makes torrent of the compilation::

....hmmm, that might actually be a cool trend to start if it hasn't happened already. people would vote on the torrents and filter them. top compilation by X date wins.

oh yeah, good songs.
