I’m not thrilled with it either, and I’m an “old skool” pro Flickr user from back in the pre-Yahoo days.

I find the removal of the separate“Comments / Comments you’ve made” links annoying in the extreme as well.

In this case “upgrade != improvement”

I love the new hompage but I agree there A LOT of great things to be done with that right hand column. Begs for personalization/customization.

strangely enough I also have a pro account and my looks just like it always has right now. I for one wish they’d enable me to let the default display of my sets/stream be wider, say 800 pix

OK , Fred was right. I compared my home page to yours and just figured out that The white space is used for ads . One in particular for me is asking me to come back to Flicr pro. You are Pro, so you don’t see any ads!

You know, with all the smartphones having full featured browsers, the longer vs. wider page makes sense.

Au contraire, I actually love this. I’ve always felt that the home page was useless, an direct linked to my photostream. I love the fact that this page shows all recent activity. it’s the only reason that I go to Flickr every morning, and now I have one click less to see what I want.

I am on a Mac pro and have a 24″ display at 1920×1200. I barely see any white space on the bottom left. How is it that your screen shows so much?

I’ve never really cared for flickr’s layout… to get to the real resolution of an image you have to click through a half dozen times, navigating a person’s collection is confusing, and the little thumbnail thing on the side of a collection never navigates me in the order I expect it to.

I don’t have this new scheme yet, either. It does look annoying, though. I did get the Google home page a long time ago, and the inbox still doesn’t work. New stuff sucks!!!

seems like the trend for many web 2.0 sites fairly recently is to go through redesign changes. not sure why that is. and it’s not necessarily always a good thing.

this year alone i’ve seen/read.or heard users saying they don’t like the changes much. twitter, last.fm, myspace, facebook -just to name a popular few- as you’ve seen have done so. despite the alpha testing of the re-designs, some users on last.fm still don’t like them.

re-designing may take time to get used to but on flickr i see your point. negative space is great, but so are location and placement.
