I saw the following video yesterday on Joystiq, in which rapper Soulja Boy does his damnedest to explain the brilliant game Braid to his YouTube audience. But then today I was talking to Josh, and he said something even more brilliant: “He is the next Yahtzee.”
Let’s compare (and btw, neither of these videos are particularly safe for work):
Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation:
So, is Soulja Boy the new liaison for gamers to the mainstream world*? Discuss.
*Wouldn’t that be hilarious?
20 Responses for "Soulja Boy: The next Yahtzee?"
as Yahtzee would say “short answer: NO, long answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”
Umm, Yahtzee FTW. Soulja Boy WTFrak. Maybe I’m too white but I can’t understand half of what he is saying.
@mnitro - HAHA! I was cracking up at that yesterday. I agreed with all of his points on Spore, but then I usually agree with Yahtzee on most things.
I gotta agree that I wouldn’t want to watch SB do a review. I can swear with the best of them, but that was too rough, even for me. I don’t agree with everything Yahtzee does (coughHalo3cough) but most of the time he’s spot-on.
OH I COULD HEAR MY BRAIN CELLS YELL IN AGONY AS THEY DIE SLOOOOWLY LISTENING TO SOULJA BOY!!
At least Yahtzee has a point in what he says and what he’s trying to get across.
By the way David, I’m not white and I didn’t understand half of what he was saying either..HAHA
Apparently Braid isn’t the only thing you have to get stoned to enjoy.
You should get both of them on Qore (but you might need subtitles for Soulja boy).
If Soulja Boy is the new voice of gamers, then gamers are a dead species. Geeze, this stuff sickens me… Yahtzee rocks in his reviews this guy is a joke.
It’s amusing for a little while to watch Soulja Boy be so stupid and high, but contrary to his thoughts about Braid, it was actually his video that had no point.
On an unrelated note, that trailer for Warhammer online was pretty awesome. I might actually try that if it isn’t cartoony like WoW.
My doG, that was awful.
Hmmm,… let’s see Soulja Boy No.1 song, pop, rap and dance; 3 million ringtones; inaugurated a new dance step; while most people (including me) still think of Yahtzee as a game from Parker Bro’s. Let’s face it the game fans are full of haters.
Hmmm… MacDude, I don’t listen to pop, rap or dance, so those stats are irrelevant. I have no idea who soulja boy is. Therefore, it seems absurd that his video has any reason to be compared to Zero Punctuation reviews. So I guess that Josh’s suggestion wasn’t that brilliant. It was more like the video game industries version of the tech world’s next “iPhone killer” comment.
Guys! People! Step back from this a second…
It’s meant as a joke. There can never be another Yahtzee. And if there were, I’d sooner run headlong off a cliff while asphyxiating myself with my USB controller than allow it to be Soulja Boy.
The only sad thing is that there are enough people out there that may actually listen to this guy’s “gaming” advice.
The soulja boy vid is hilarious! He should do more “reviews.” I would love to hear what he would say about MGS4 or something completely different like Katamari!
The only folks that would listen to SOLDIER boy, are the same ones that like his music. Hmmmmmm, we need a predator for human… like a HUGE mantis-thing to thin the herd a bit.
Okay folks, let me break it down for everyone:
Angry Nintendo Nerd reviews trump all.
And… while Braid does make a hilarious review, I want to see A.N. Nerd, Yahtzee, AND Soulja Boy all review Fat Princess. That game is just too amazing.
What can you expect from a guy who can’t even string a sentence together in any of his songs. Then again what can you say about the people who listen to them?
I’ll be honest.
Soulja Boy made me want to get up and play Braid.
Microsoft should consider him as an essential marketing tool.
He amuses himself for 5 minutes with a feature thats been in the hit Prince of Persia series forever…must live under a rock.
