As an eighties baby, these songs often haunt me in my dreams. Actually, a-ha’s “Take on Me” was the second song I ever downloaded on iTunes! So the sickness runs deep.
Anyhow, Josh pointed me to these posts on Laughing Squid, and I got a huge kick out of these literal translations, created by Dust Films.

Awesome!
(speaking as someone who might not have been born in the 80s, but definitely grew up there)
The A-Ha video rocks even now. Love the new lyrics!
It’s rare that I can honestly say, “LOL,” but: LOL.

I know people older than me (and therefore prime 80’s targets) unaware of Take on Me.
This is their first taste!
OMFG - these are great!!
Both are awesome, really good! =)
I would flirt with this girl with big glasses too, easily ! Hahaha ! I’m fom the late 70’s, I was a kid at the 80’s too.
Ah ! “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is the music that I heard the most times ever. There was a couple of months, years ago, when I put this song everyday, all day long… and I love to listen to it till now, with no “tired ears”.
Haha, there really needs to be some more of these made!
LMAO “Is that Dave Coulier?”
These are hilarious!
I remember even as a kid back then thinking how stupid some of the videos I was watching were.
Wow. I hadn’t seen the Tears for Fears one before. That one definitely tops the A-ha video.
Those videos are hilarious! xD
I lived the 80’s and still enjoy listening to the music. Now I just wonder what the first song you downloaded from iTunes is. =P
I’m actually lol’ing to use the internet speak
These videos are hilarious and remind me very much of my childhood. I love that I grew up in the 80s LOL.
Haha that head over heels one is awesome!
Hahaha, oh my gosh Veronica, these videos were epic. Thanks so much for sharing them!
Thanks, these are pretty funny. While I didn’t buy “Take On Me” on iTunes it has forever been the first song in my library (alphabetical by artist) so whenever I hit my Quicksilver “play” hot-key it plays by default.
Haha. What a coincidence. I just watched these videos today. I guess they’ve gone somewhat viral.
Hey Veronica nice 80’s vids! Shifting to something you said on the last tekzilla show about the new MacBook pros. You mentioned that people have been complaining about the new glossy screens on the MBPs. Well I was worried about it too but I’ve had a chance to spend some quality time with my MBP and can only attest to the high quality of the screen. I don’t really notice the glare at all even though it’s there. I don’t see my reflection in it to be more precise or notice glaring lights (no hair combing going on here!) and only find myself being impressed by both the brilliant colors coming off the screen and the overall solid build of the MBP. You also complained about no 17″ MBPs…well you’ll just have to wait your turn Ms. Fatty Macfatty Screen! The new MBPs are awesome in every way!
