In spite of horrific jetlag, I went down to Menlo Park with Ryan and Niall to take a look at the prototype Tesla Model S on display today only. Trust me, if I were in a position for buying a car right now (meaning, had $50,000 and a place to park it) then this would definitely be an option!
Here are my photos below, plus Ryan’s video (and his hands-on post about it too). Niall’s pics are here.

I want that sooo bad.
A very nice car! Now you just need to test drive one
What cam / phone is ryan using? The S is definitely a car for the masses and I would hope that the billions the government is allocating to the big guys goes to building factories to build these S Models instead. It only makes practical sense since this company can come up with a car that is beyond awesome and produce it faster than the other guys.
Those are nice cars. Perhaps if I lived in California I’d look into getting one. I’m not sure how well they’d work in the winter here…
Wow. So cool.
However, I can foresee problems with that touch screen center console: I cannot imagine one not needing to take his/her eyes off the road to look at the screen to make adjustments…
Still, very cool nonetheless.
Thanks for sharing.
Dave
Of course, that is extremely cool. However, I cannot condone the graphical spedometer, power meter, or climate control display. It’s… against my religion (I think. I’m not as well read as I should be on the scripture).
Cool! you deserve one
I want one.
You did so good Veronica you are the best. But I can”t see a picture I see text that reads # Telsa model S hands on from Ryan Block on Vimeo, and related my video on the Telsa Roadster on Maholo Daily. It might just be my device not loading up any who I know its awsome because you like it I will google it when I leave thanks Veronica.
what is with everything going touchscreen!?!? am I the only one who misses reaching down w/o looking to adjust air, or whatever else I want to control?
Until we get mind control working right, this really hampers the car’s usability IMO. great piece of technology, but seemingly poor ergonomics.
Love the turbine-style rims, power door handle…hell, there’s not a lot about it that looks so-so to me. Gorgeous.
The lack of tactile feel on the main user controls doesn’t give me a big warm and fuzzy feeling, but I’ll reserve my 2 cents until I can actually see one in person. Anyone want to send me to their store? Please…..
can’t wait to see you and patrick doin e-car road tests in Tekzilla! perhaps some Fast and Furious drifting would be great on a Tesla Model S…
Yes, but does it have an iPod connector?
limited to 125 miles there/back
for few dollars for 50k
but how long do the batteries last
not like the lap top I hope
Elijah – He’s on the Flip Mino HD!
Rob – There’s haptic feedback on the touchscreen, so you at least get that!
I really like the futuristic touch-screen! Any car with a touch screen is one I want!
Hey Veronica,
this should make a gerat systm episode. =)
That is so cool that Ryan promised to get you one! He’s the greatest BF ever!!! :-p
What a sweet ride. I’ve been watching Tesla for a long time, hope they grow and get an east coast distributor soon!
Yikes, those screens look like Glare City. Do you think that will pose a problem driving on bright, sunny days?
Nice videos, and really it’s been said before, but I too want a Tesla. *drool* is right V!
It’s a beauty!
Btw, did you enjoy your trip to England? Looks like fun!
Someone with your star power doesn’t have 50k and a parking spot? I don’t believe it.
Besides, wouldn’t you rather have a Porsche Boxster for that price
Impressive thing!
