Oh yeah, I have a blog!
A lot of people have blamed Twitter for ruining their ability to blog, but Twitter has caused the slow decline of my personal site in a different way: pressure. A while back I started using the WordPress plugin Twitter Tools, which not only shows you the updates found on the right sidebar, but also automatically publishes the title and link of the most recent blog post to my Twitter feed.
This is good for getting some visibility for the posts, of course. But it also caused an unexpected problem, in that I felt a ton of pressure to have something really valuable to say every single time I posted. Granted, we should always be trying to add value somehow with our blogs, but there is something to be said for keeping it personal and light. But if we go back to say… March of 2006, for example, I was writing all sorts of crazy stuff (and it was fun).
I want to get back to that point. This needs to get a little less serious. Twitter auto-post is officially “off” and my personal blog is about to get more personal.

Yay! Looking fwd to more blog posts.
Why do you feel pressured only by the fact that the blog post title is posted on Twitter? Do you feel more exposed? And even if you do whats wrong with some silliness every once in a while?
I guess I feel like if I’m posting to almost 500k people, it damn well better be something good.
Plus, if I blog as much as I’d like too, half of my Twitter posts would be links to my own blog, and I don’t feel like that’s a good way to use that service.
I believe the type and size of a post should dictate the publishing platform, either Twitter, FreindFeed or blog. I don’t think there is something wrong with linking your personal rants from Twitter to your blog since Twitter can’t encompass such a post anyway.

I’m trying to figure out how one cuts their lip on Frozen Yogurt? Interesting post on Twitter tools.

I like your Tweeter and your blog (thanks to the former I got here in the first place btw…), post anything about whatever you like wherever you want, no pressures! =]
Good to hear. I miss the days when I used to blog.
I know EXACTLY how you feel. It’s hard to have a personal blog when your twitter is constantly updating your personality to the world in short spouts. That’s why I use tumblr for my personal blog and my wordpress site for things like reviews and more journalistic posts. I think tumblr’s simplistic format eases me out of the scary need to post something meaningful.
Best of luck with it anyway and I look forward to reading whatever you publish.

Good to hear you will give your blog some attention (I think it was feeling left out
).
If I remember correctly it was also one of your New Years resolutions to blog more – and it seems twitter has so far ruined that resolution a bit.
Looking forward to your blog-posts – no pressure
Enjoyed to read your blog.
Yes, trying to post something in a few words that are better valuable to audiences several times a day is not a easy task!! -:)
Twitter may be good for impromptu events.
Your blog is what I want for a blog. But I realise mine in different language…
Your tweets and blog posts should be about anything you want to write about when you feel like writing about anything. Everybody enjoys your views, ideas, and opinion about anything you have to say especially when you twitpic them too.
Now, I really look forward to laughing with you about the zaniest things you come upon and aligning emotionally with you about serious topics.
Best regards,
T.
YAYYYY!!!!
Welcome back, FINALLY!

Very cool V! I like the silly side and creative side of you
I like twitter and all, but i like personal blogs better because you can be a lot more creative and don’t have to worry about the 140 character limit to express yourself! Also since people visit blogs a different times, you can post links and don’t have to worry about bringing sites down like twitter does!
I’m a twitter maniac but would much rather read peoples’ blogs than their twitter feed.
Let us return to those halcyon days, Veronica.

That’s an interesting perspective I hadn’t thought about before. Thanks for pointing it out. Looking forward to more frequent posts.
Brava! Good for you, Veronica! There is much to be said in favor of instant communication, but thought, reflection and humor so sometimes suffer for it. Bring back the blog! For what it may be worth, I have yet to give in to Twitter and do not consider myself the poorer for it.

Looking forward to reading more on the blog! It’s always interesting.
