Despite losing my voice yesterday, I rallied for an appearance on CNN.com this morning with MG Siegler, Ben Parr and Mark McClusky. We spoke about the new iPhone 3G S and if now is a good time to upgrade, our favorite apps, and if Blackberry has a chance to win hearts and minds with their new offerings.
And why am I the only lameass with a headset on? Seriously, Veronica. Get with the program.

At least your audio quality was better than that other dude.
Get better soon!
I’m glad they mentioned my voice so I didn’t have to! Rather than just having the audience assume that I typically sound like a 60yo woman that’s been smoking for 40 years. :/
It’s like that episode of friends when Phoepe had her sexy raspy singing voice. Go V!
Well V, you managed to sound like the most knowledgeable blogger on the show despite it coming on the heels of you losing your voice (which seems to be getting close to back to normal now)…I agree with the headset thing. What’s with that? You’ve reviewed tons of cams with mics on Tekzilla, you must have one or two of your own.
Hey V – the headset gives you geek-cred! And I’m so sorry you lost your voice; I hope it’s not sore, and I hope you get better soon. Hugs from Boston!
How cute with your headset
I personally don’t think buying a 3G S is very wise at this time because it doens’t have a very dramatic change software/hardware compared to my current 3G.
I’ve seen it on videos and the only thing that I think i’ll miss is videos and that extra speedy processor, other than that nothing.
Also because I bought the 3G on November I’ll have to pay the “premium” $200. Cmon AT&T!
Aww you did great even with your voice problem! Someone should of said I get a new iphone if it wasn’t tie to AT&T! lol
It wasn’t so bad, you really did well. For iPhone, I love my 3G, and I won’t replace it with 3G S.
Blessings on thee.
Veronica I agree with you about the new iPhone. Video recording and editing on the fly is only the one thing that has me attracted but otherwise meh.
When they put multiple experts together like that I think you’re supposed to argue and interrupt each other. Makes for the best TV.
Love the face you make when Mark stream fudges a bit when he’s asked what apps he likes. You sound cute with your voice like this, but I obviously hope you get better.
Haha, I was making the face because they took all my favorite apps before I had a chance to say them! Not because he fudged anything, which I don’t remember
It’s called Geek Chic, V!
I am going to come right out with a so called “Unsolicited compliment” (as Natali Del Conte calls them), I think you did really good with your voice, and the segment was definitely interesting.
Eventually you’ll get offered $1m / year to go to CNN or NBC. Then we’ll lose our favorite geek to network. Sigh.
Wow! your voice! very cute, is like listening to another Veronica. The evil twin (??) The headset shows your commitment to the program
Blackberry aims at a different level of users, it is good that differs with the iphone, which is more multimedia.
Thanks for posting this video, I got most of the apps you folks suggested. I love the mint app, hopefully it can shape up my financing. Get well soon Veronica!
Great format!
I use a headset all the time… so we are in the same lameass boat.
Hi, Veronica.
I watched this clip on CNN today, and I wanted to say that you sounded quite intelligent and informed, despite the little trouble you had with your voice. I hope you feel better soon.
The CNN site has a cursory comparison of four smart phones, but it does nothing to alleviate my confusion as someone considering whether to replace my aging mobile with a first smart phone. Do you know of a good comparison sites for judging what phone to get for particular needs? I would mainly use a smart phone for business (and so care less about games) and keeping in touch with distant friends and family (so video is a plus), but I am not sure which would most closely match my needs. Is there anything comparable to dpreview.com for phones instead of cameras?
Thanks.
Hi Richard!
Here’s a great comparison from CNET:

Hope this helps!
Thanks, Veronica. That is more like what I was hoping to find.
If you’re gonna wear a headset, wear the most obnoxious ones you can find, I mean like 70s style…lol j/k
And I agree with photoTristan, you guys were so cordial with each other. I was waiting for some raging to happen.
funny seeing you on CNN with those headphones …
get well soon …
