Interview with George R.R. Martin on Sword & Laser!
Tom and I interviewed the wonderful George R.R. Martin on this week’s episode of Sword and Laser! Naturally, as a huge fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, and the HBO show Game of Thrones, this was a pretty big deal for me! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.
“Secret Identity” by Andrew Mayne
I recorded audio for a short story for the new podcast, “Andrew Mayne Stories” written by (obviously) the wonderful Andrew Mayne. It’s called “Secret Identity,” and I found it to be a sad and somewhat chilling read. But it was also a lot of fun to record, so I hope you enjoy it!
OMG, she said “vagina” on the Internet!
As if one book club wasn’t enough, I’ve joined forces with some of my fantastically geeky girlfriends (Felicia Day, Kiala Kazebee, and Bonnie Burton) for a little project called the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout. This new monthly Google+ hangout session will focus on books from the fantasy, science fiction, paranormal romance, and mystery genres. There will also probably be a little sexy-time (as I like to call it) in the stories as well, which we will discuss to great lengths (and to our great amusement).
Our first episode is up, and we also have a Goodreads group and a Facebook page! Hope you’ll join us! Next episode will tape live on Feb 27th at 8pm PST over on Felicia’s G+ page.
Short review of Bossypants by Tina Fey
Bossypants by Tina Fey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Bossypants is the kind of book that makes you feel like you could be the author’s best friend. In fact… Tina Fey, will you be my best friend? I really think we have a lot in common. Like this quote, for example:
“My ability to turn good news into anxiety is rivaled only by my ability to turn anxiety into chin acne.”
I also find this to be true! We have the same self-success loathing anxieties! (Is that not a thing? I think I just made that a thing.)
Anyhow, even if we can’t all be best friends with Tina Fey, hearing her talk about her background, rise to glory, and inner-most thoughts on breast feeding is hilarious and enjoyable. Plus, it’s always nice to hear an author read her own book, though there were some audio issues (weird fade-outs, vocal asides that were almost inaudible) but otherwise I give this book two thumbs up!
