I’ve known about the chiptune/demoscene for a while (when I first did a Mahalo Daily clip on the subject back in 2008), but I wasn’t aware of the work of Falling for a Square until today. Why, you ask? Because he titled one of his new demos after me!!!
Yes, it’s just that easy to get my attention*.
But I wouldn’t have written about it if it wasn’t awesome, so please check out the track on his demos page. Thanks to Doctor Popular for the email alerting me to this fact; he makes some pretty awesome music as well, in case you didn’t know.
*The Carps also figured that out a while back.
Moving on to new projects

Hard to believe the time has already come, but soon enough I’ll be moving on from Mahalo to embark on some exciting new projects! Mahalo Daily has been a really amazing experience (and not just because I get to do things like fly a plane), and I’ll still be producing episodes for the next couple of weeks as host, and then eventually reporting as correspondent.
It’s impressive how far the show has come since we started; at first I was a little apprehensive about the idea of doing episodes 5 days a week while building it from the ground up (as I imagine anyone would be). But with time we’ve assembled a really great, motivated team that makes the whole thing look effortless. Of course, there’s no shortage of solid talent at Mahalo, and they’ll be working with more people in the future too.
As for the new projects, well, you’ll find out soon enough! Needless to say, I’m very excited about what’s just around the bend.
A “Daily” at 5,000 feet

I referenced that I flew a plane a few weeks ago, and here’s the final product: “How to Get Your Private Pilot’s Certificate.” I was absolutely terrified to do this shoot, because I do have a history of having a fear of heights (which I guess is better now, considering I did this and go rock climbing with some regularity). Flying a plane is something I’d never even thought to try, but now I would love to do it again sometime. We flew the Cessna over Santa Monica and Venice, and it was absolutely beautiful. I did have a moment of “Oh crap” when he wanted me to start some major turns, but we got through them eventually!
See? Now if I’m ever on your flight and the pilot goes unconscious, I can probably rescue everyone! Uhh… maybe not.

The Mahalo video team is here at GDC (Game Developers Conference) covering the event with Joystiq! The Mahalo Games team is pumping out tons of pages about all the games we’re covering, and we’ve been shooting constantly for the last day and a half.
Today’s Mahalo Daily is a feature on the Independent Games Festival, happening here in the West Hall of Moscone.
